Blaze Display Technology Co., Ltd. | Updated: Oct 21, 2015

Before you make an attempt of buying a LCD TV, it is important that you know what exactly you should look for in an LCD TV. Believe it or not, there are numerous brands out there sellingLCD TVs. These TVs are beautiful, thin and look like those from Star Trek, but not every LCD TV out there is the best! LCD TVs are like digital cameras, you can’t just select one based on how many megapixels it has. Compared to a Plasma TV, LCD TVs have a lot factors a person needs to consider before making a choice.

Here are some of the major things you need to think about before you buy an LCD TV:

Firstly you need to consider the contrast ratio of the LCD TV. Contrast ratio determines how powerful the images will. Contrast ratio is basically is the ratio of the darkest and the brightest screen of the TV. Usually an LCD TV with a contrast ratio of 1000:1 is ideal and you shouldn’t settle down for anything lower than this.

Of course resolution is the primary factor you need to consider. Higher the resolution, better the viewing experience will be of an LCD TV. Do not settle down for anything less than 720p. You get LCD TV with better resolutions as well and as said earlier higher the contrast, better it will be. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend on your new TV.

MRT is basically motion response time and it plays a vital role in determining the picture quality of the TV. An LCD TV with low MRT can cause the picture to hang or disrupt when the objects are moving too fast in it. So make sure the TV you are buying has at least 12ms of MRT. Don’t settle for anything lower than this.

Viewing angles:

Viewing angles refer to the capability of the LCD TV to show the picture from different angles. An LCD TV with poor viewing angles can’t be seen from the sides. This is where plasma TVs have beaten LCD TVs. Try and get an LCD TV that has more than 60 degrees of viewing angles from each side.

All these factors are necessary to consider before buying an LCD TV. Believe it or not, any salesman can sell you a TV that might not be worth it so you need to know the basics of it.
