Advantages of LCD screens

Blaze Display Technology Co., Ltd. | Updated: Nov 27, 2018

Display is an important interface between human and machine. In the early days, CRT/Cathode Ray Tube display was the main display. However, with the continuous advancement of technology, various display technologies have sprung up. , low power consumption, no risk of radiation, flat right-angle display, stable and non-flickering images, etc., attracted by the continuous price drop in recent years, has gradually replaced the mainstream position of CRT, and the display is full of stars of tomorrow. So what are the new features of LCD monitors compared with traditional monitors?

1. High display quality

Since each point of the liquid crystal display keeps the color and brightness after receiving the signal, it emits light constantly, unlike the cathode ray tube display (CRT) that need to constantly refresh the highlights. As a result, the LCD display is high-quality and absolutely flicker-free, minimizing eye fatigue.

2. No electromagnetic radiation

The display material of the traditional display is phosphor powder, which is displayed by electron beam hitting the phosphor powder. The moment the electron beam hits the phosphor powder, it will generate strong electromagnetic radiation, although there are currently many display products that are compared in dealing with the radiation problem Effective treatment, to minimize the amount of radiation as much as possible, but to completely eliminate Except is difficult. Relatively speaking, liquid crystal displays have inherent advantages in preventing radiation, because there is no radiation at all. In terms of electromagnetic wave prevention, liquid crystal displays also have their own unique advantages. It uses strict sealing technology to seal a small amount of electromagnetic waves from the drive circuit in the display. In contact with the air, the electromagnetic waves generated by the internal circuit will "leak" outward in large quantities.

3. Large viewing area

For displays of the same size, the viewing area of an LCD is larger. The viewable area of an LCD is the same as its diagonal size. CRT monitors have an inch or so of border around the front panel of the picture tube that cannot be used for display.

4. Wide range of applications

The original liquid crystal display is usually used in electronic watches and calculators because it cannot display delicate characters. With the continuous development and progress of liquid crystal display technology, the character display has become more delicate, and it also supports basic color display, and is gradually used in LCD TVs, LCD monitors for cameras, and handheld game consoles. And the subsequent DSTN and TFT is widely made into liquid crystal display devices in computers, DSTN LCD screens were used in early notebook computers; TFTs were used in both On a laptop (most laptops these days use TFT display), but also used in mainstream desktop monitors.

5. the picture effect is good

Compared with traditional monitors, liquid crystal monitors use a pure flat glass plate from the beginning, and its display effect is flat and right-angled, which makes people feel refreshed.

And liquid crystal displays are easier to achieve high resolution on a small screen area, for example, 17 inch 1280×1024 resolution can be achieved well with a 18-inch LCD monitor, and usually 18 inch 1280×1024 on inch CRT color display The picture effect of the above resolutions is not completely satisfactory.

6. Digital interface

Liquid crystal displays are all digital, unlike cathode ray tube color displays that use analog interfaces. That is to say, with an LCD monitor, the graphics card no longer needs to convert digital signals into analog signals and then output them as usual. In theory, this results in more accurate and perfect color and positioning.

7. The "body" is well-proportioned and small

Traditional cathode ray tube monitors always have a bulky ray tube trailing behind them. Liquid crystal displays break through this limitation and give people a whole new feeling. Traditional displays use electron guns to emit electron beams to the screen, so the tube neck of the picture tube cannot be made very short. When the screen increases, the volume of the entire display will inevitably increase.

The liquid crystal display achieves the display purpose by controlling the state of the liquid crystal molecules through the electrodes on the display screen. Even if the screen is enlarged, its volume will not increase proportionally, and its weight is much lighter than traditional displays with the same display area.

8. Low power consumption

The interior of a traditional display is composed of many circuits. When these circuits drive the cathode ray picture tube to work, they need to consume a lot of power, and as the volume continues to increase, the power consumed by its internal circuits will definitely increase accordingly. In contrast, the power consumption of liquid crystal displays is mainly consumed on its internal electrodes and driver ICs, so the power consumption is much smaller than that of traditional displays.
